Someone Like Me!

Active East Herts will be delivering a new project in 2020 after a £9,995 grant was awarded to fund gentle exercise for older residents of Bishop's Stortford's Havers estate.

Active East Herts was a partner in the successful bid that also featured Bishops Stortford Community Centres Trust, East Herts Council, Clarion Housing, Bishops Stortford Age Concern and Havers Community Church. 

The project will aim to address isolation and loneliness among older residents, using activity to bring people together.

New sessions will start in the estate from early January and will feature Zumba Chair at St Michaels Community Centre, Seated Cricket at Havers Community Centre, Movement for Health at Valley Court Residential Home and Seated Cricket at the New Apton Centre. 

Confirmed Sessions:

• Seated Zumba at St Michaels Mead Community Centre on Thursdays 11:45am - Launching Thursday 9th January 

• Exercise to Music at Havers Community Centre on Tuesdays 2:00pm - Launching Tuesday 28th January

GO TRI 2020! 

Active East Herts ran another successful series of GO TRI events in 2019 with just shy of 150 participants over 3 races.

The GO TRI series returns in 2020 with the below dates confirmed:

• Sunday 7th June - Duathlon - Grange Paddocks, Bishops Stortford

• Sunday 28th June - Aquathlon - Hartham Common, Hertford

• Sunday 26th July - Aquathlon - Grange Paddocks, Bishops Stortford

• Sunday 9th August - Triathlon - Hartham Common, Hertford

• Sunday 6th September - Open Water Aquathlon - Ware

Hertford Cycle Hub!

Hertford Cycle Hub delivered a pilot over Summer 2019, utilising Hartham Common Football Changing rooms in Hertford. The pilot hub offered many services including bicycle repairs, servicing, local cycling routes, Bikeability classes, maintenance courses and much more. During this period over 500 local residents visited the Hub.

Activating Birch Green!

Active East Herts will be working alongside the new B. Green Store in Birch Green this January 2020 to offer a programme of activities for the local residents.

The new village store opened in December 2019, serving coffee and acting as a community hub for the village. Alongside this brilliant new addition, Active East Herts will be offering six new, local activities to Birch Green residents. These include Walking Football, Health Walks and Breeze Rides.

Coach Education Week 2020!

The Herts Sports Partnership "Coach Education Week" is returning once again in 2020. A number of coaching courses will be run from Saturday 15th February - Sunday 23rd February.

Coach Education Week is an opportunity to start, develop or widen your skills to enable you to be better. Whether you are a coach working in elite sport or you are engaging people who are new to being active, we value your impact in Hertfordshire and want to support you with a wide range of courses, workshops and talks.
