Active East Herts - COVID-19 Statement

Following advice and guidance, it is with a heavy heart that Active East Herts have made the decision to temporarily suspend community classes and events as of Wednesday 18th March. This is not a decision we have taken lightly, however given the current advice from the central government, with special regards to older people and those with existing health conditions, it’s important to consider how our behaviour can limit the spread of the infection and protect them.

As we are following guidelines, we must limit the community groups that encourage close social contact. We are very aware of the impact that suspending our community classes will have on isolation, mobility and mental health.

Therefore we will do our utmost where possible to provide virtual classes (see below) and invite residents to share messages and videos digitally in order to stay connected. We are uncertain what lies ahead, however we promise to keep everyone updated as we continually review the situation and we hope to open our community classes as soon as possible.

Virtual Timetable

We have been working hard with a number of local instructors to develop a timetable of online classes. We want to ensure the community is able to keep active and stay connected during these very uncertain times. Most of these classes are completely FREE, with just a couple with a small cost.

We have included lots of different classes at different times to ensure there is something for everyone. Click on any class for more information on what to expect and details of how to join. We hope you enjoy our new way of keeping active!

#PassItOn Challenge

Social media has been awash with new challenges, initiatives and trends thanks to the Covid-19 enforced isolation. Active East Herts has taken part in a number of these already including the #LooRollKeepyUppy challenge and the #BurpeeChallenge (check out our Instagram account to see more).

We have also taken on an East Herts wide #PassItOn Challenge (click here to view Part 1) where we want to include as many clubs from East Hertfordshire as possible in the same video, showing that while we are all isolated in our own homes our local sports teams and clubs still support each other.

There is still time to get involved. Email adam.howard@activeinthecommunity.org.uk to submit your clubs entry.
